Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the Windows XP operating system, in addition to a small number of new updates. Windows XP SP3 will not significantly change the Windows XP experience.
Microsoft has scrapped the "New functionality included in this service pack" and the "Previously available functionality" sections in favor of the 11-page Windows XP Service Pack 3 Overview, available since April 1, 2008. The mention of the registry hack Mac users need to apply has also been removed probably due to Apple's release of Boot Camp 2.1. Issues with custom installation of N editions, networking when Remote Access Server Quarantine Enforcement Client is enabled, and printing with Cambria and some versions of Arial, are no longer mentioned on the final version. The entry of an issue and fix for installing XP SP3 after a prerelease version of Remote Desktop Client 6.1 is installed still remains.
While many problems appear to have been solved, others have taken their place. There is a mention of the problem of uninstalling IE7 and IE8 beta 1 after XP SP3 is installed. There is also mention of the Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System problem which delayed the official RTW of XP SP3. Microsoft also mentions the need to install a Multilingual User Interface Pack update for XP SP3 in a specific scenario and a minor VBScript problem in another scenario. The rest of the document, "Windows Media Center" and "Copyright," remains mostly unchanged.
